Day 3 of the Profound Summit continued to deliver inspiring stories and innovative solutions. Among the highlights, Dirt Coffee, Brew Ability, and Roll Mobility stood out as shining examples of how to create inclusive and empowering environments for individuals with disabilities.
Dirt Coffee, a nonprofit coffee shop, bar, and truck, is committed to empowering neurodivergent individuals. Founded by two social workers who are neurodivergent themselves, Dirt Coffee recognizes the challenges faced by many neurodivergent individuals in finding employment. Katarina, a member of the Dirt Coffee team, shared a personal story about her first day on the job and the difficulties she encountered due to social cue reading impairments. This experience highlighted the importance of creating inclusive workplaces that accommodate the unique needs of neurodivergent individuals.
Dirt Coffee offers so much more than just employment opportunities. The comprehensive training and support provided at Dirt Coffee empowers neurodivergent individuals to discover their passions, build confidence, and develop essential workplace skills. Through hands-on experience and mentorship, individuals gain the tools and knowledge they need to succeed in their future endeavors. This holistic approach equips them with the confidence and skills to find meaningful employment and thrive in the workforce.
Brew Ability, an inclusive brewery and pizzeria, offers a welcoming environment for all patrons. With color-coded menus, Braille, large-print, and picture-based options, Brew Ability ensures that everyone can easily navigate their ordering experience. The brewery’s success in attracting a large pool of applicants demonstrates the growing demand for inclusive employment opportunities.
Roll Mobility, a community-driven accessibility tool, is making a significant impact by providing online accessibility reviews for businesses worldwide. This app empowers individuals with disabilities to make informed choices about where to go and encourages establishments to prioritize accessibility. By fostering a more inclusive dining experience, Roll Mobility is paving the way for a more accessible future.
