As we continue our journey of intentional holiday living, I want to invite you into a coaching conversation that can transform your Christmas experience from overwhelming to meaningful. As I mentioned in Part 1, some of us find Christmas stressful when it is meant to be joyful. So follow along in this deep dive to help change your mindset around this.
Setting Your Intention: The Powerful Coaching Questions
Let’s explore two crucial questions that can reshape your holiday approach:
- What would you like to create this Christmas?
- Why is that important?
For me, my intention is to create a Christmas where I am fully present, deeply adaptable, and I prioritize my health. When you answer the question “Why is this important?” you get to the Goal behind the Goal. Which is a little deeper and maybe even more important than the first goal that presented itself.
The Goal Behind the Goal
In my case, why are these intentions so critical? Because I want to stay healthy and genuinely enjoy every moment. In past Christmases, abandoning my healthy habits left me feeling depleted, taking weeks or months to regain my wellness rhythm.
I’ve learned that flexibility is key. Previous holidays were marked by inflexibility, causing emotional turbulence for myself and those around me. Now, I seek peace and harmony—and that begins within me.
The recent losses of my mom and my beloved dog Maisie have crystallized a profound truth: it’s the small, seemingly insignificant moments that truly matter, not just the grand, orchestrated celebrations.
Celebrating Wins: A Neurological Approach to Positivity
Here’s a powerful coaching tip: Celebrate your wins daily, and do it visually.
This practice isn’t just feel-good advice—it’s neurologically significant. Celebrating positive wins actually helps reset your dopamine baseline. Focusing on wins elevates your mood, while dwelling on negatives can suppress it.
Visual Win Tracking:
- Keeps achievements front and center
- Helps rewire your brain’s dopamine baseline
- Prevents glossing over personal victories
You often take your wins for granted and don’t take the time to savor, enjoy, and give yourself credit. Creating a visual tracker of daily wins allows us to see them add up.

This holiday season, I challenge you to be intentional, adaptable, and kind to yourself. Celebrate every win, no matter how small.
